A Little About Scott Hebert
Scott Hebert is an enthusiastic and dedicated educator who began his journey in Calgary seven years ago, having moved from Sudbury in Northern Ontario. He took on the role of Elementary Physical Education Teacher at Westmount Charter School and also served as the Elementary Learning Leader for Physical Education and Daily Physical Activity.
In the summer of 2013, life took an unexpected turn when Scott and his family received news that required them to make the difficult decision to leave their home and careers behind, relocating suddenly to Sherwood Park. Despite the challenges, their faith remained strong and provided them with stability through the transition. After declining several job opportunities outside the field of education, Scott was grateful to accept a teaching position at Our Lady of Angels (OLA), where he proudly became part of the Crusader community.
Hebert is also a devoted husband to his wife Vicki and a proud father to their daughter Zofia and son Luke. His passion for teaching is rooted in his belief that Physical Education and the Sciences are among the most essential subjects in a student's education. He champions healthy, active living and emphasizes the importance of developing strong social skills through these disciplines.
Scott completed his entire post-secondary education in Sudbury at Laurentian University, earning both a Bachelor of Physical and Health Education and a Bachelor of Education. He graduated with Honours in both programs and was recognized as the “All Around Academic Student” in his third and fourth years.
Since joining the team at Our Lady of Angels, Scott has found the experience to be a true blessing. He feels incredibly fortunate to work in such a welcoming and supportive environment. His mission remains clear: to deliver high-quality Catholic education in a safe, fun, and engaging space. He often quotes child development expert Joseph Chilton Pearce, who said, “Play is the only way the highest intelligence of humankind can unfold”—a sentiment Scott wholeheartedly shares.
Scott Hebert’s excellence in teaching has also been recognized at the provincial and international levels. In May 2013, he was named one of ’s Top 20 Teachers through the Excellence in Teaching Award. In 2015, his classroom project was awarded “Best Gamification in Education Project in the World” by the World Gamification Congress.
